The garage door wouldn't close so I called Precision Garage Door Service. I needed the garage door fixed because it has been extremely cold and snow was forecasted the next day. I made the appointment on Friday afternoon and the technician was supposed to be here between 8:00 and 12:00. Garry arrived at 9:00 and quickly diagnosed the problem with the garage door. He called me to explain the problem and I authorized him to replace the springs. The job was done quickly and I am amazed at how quietly the door closes now. I would highly recommend Precision Garage Door Service. I was happy to be able to get an appointment so fast and have the door repaired the next day.

I would actually make this 4.5 stars if I could. I called, very last-minute after another garage door repair company canceled on me, late on a day when the weather was particularly brutal and still managed to get someone from Precision to come over and fix our garage that very evening. The work seems to be holding up, and the technician was very pleasant. I am subtracting 1/2 a star because he brought the ladder through our house and took a chunk out of the trim around our dining room entrance (which I now have to sand and repaint) and also because the price seemed a bit high compared to what our research had us expecting. Overall, however, we were grateful for the emergency visit, the work seems well-done, and both the receptionist answering the phones and technician doing the work were very pleasant to work with.

What great customer service! I called at 830am and was told someone would be at my house between 12-4p. Barry was at my house before noon. He actually arrived early and notified me by phone that he would wait for me to arrive. He quickly diagnosed the problem with my keypad, told me what it would cost to repair it and worked with me to reprogram the access codes. He did a thorough assessment of the other parts of my garage doors and made a recommendation of another repair in the near future. The whole visit lasted about 20 minutes. I have used the services of Precision Overhead Garage Door Service in the past, and once again, when I needed them, they were there right away. I called on a freezing Saturday at about 11:40, explaining that I have a senior in the house and was worried about the cold, since the garage door would not close. I was given a window of 12-4 that day. I had the great luck to have Barry be close by, and he called within 15minutes of hanging up with the dispatcher. He was at the door in 30 minutes. Barry is extremely knowledgeable and customer oriented. He diagnosed the problem in minutes, just like an experienced doctor. He explained the problem in understandable terms and offered several options as solutions. At no time did he pressure me to take any option, but left it to me to decide. I chose an option that cost much more than I had planned for, but it made perfect sense. He set to work immediately to remedy several problems and was finished in less than an hour. After he finished, he explained carefully what he did, what the problems were, and how he decided to tackle them. He showed me the wear on the parts he took off, and explained what the cause was. He patiently answered my questions, and was totally responsive and a consummate professional about the whole procedure. From start to finish, from my initial call, the resolution was less than two hours. Barry should teach classes to other service providers about manners, on time service, and professional expertise. He is a tremendous asset to your company. I will always refer Precision. As a Realtor, I have many referral possibilities.

I'm upset that I had to pay a service call fee for you to replace the springs on my garage door. The springs had been replace and was still under warrant. This does not make any sense. I understand about paying for the labor for the installation of the springs but not for a services call for warrant work.

Reading reviews at other sites (HomeAdvisor, Yelp, etc.) you'll find that most reviews will say that this company is prompt and that their service is at least adequate. However, you'll also note that almost all complaints are about their prices. From my personal experience, I'd say that those reviews are spot on. In my case, their service was prompt, adequate, and extremely expensive. In fairness, I didn't do my homework as I should have (it's what happens when you get in a hurry), so the prices may or may not have been in line with industry standards. All I can do is present what I paid and let the reader be the judge. So... they charged me $340 for two torsion springs. Research on the net suggests that torsion springs range from $40 to $80 a piece. A set of torsion cables cost me $100. Looking around the net, cables fall in the $10 to $20 range each. Labor and service fee was approximately $125 for about an hours worth of work. All in all I would say their markup on parts is pretty hefty. This seems especially so considering that the online prices I noted above also are marked up (Home Depot etc. also make some profit on their sale - they don't sell their springs at cost). In the end, I feel like I got a bit burnt on this business transaction. I guess it's the price you pay when you rush and don't do your homework. Will I do business with this company again? Probably not - or at least not until I do more research into what the industry standard (competitors) rates/prices are.
